Why FinanceGora exists

FinanceGora is an independent publication dedicated to one stubborn idea: a phone that still powers on shouldn’t be thrown away just because the company that made it decided to move on. When Microsoft wound down Windows 10 Mobile and began closing the Windows Phone Store, tens of millions of Lumia devices were quietly orphaned. Most of them still work. We’re here to help their owners keep them working — and to do it safely, legally, and without the hype.

First, about our name

We get this question constantly, so let’s answer it up front. The domain you’re reading this on is financegora.com/. We are not a finance site, and we won’t give you stock tips, budgeting advice, or crypto predictions.

Here’s the honest story. This domain originally hosted a small personal-finance blog that was abandoned years ago. In early 2026, when we set out to build a Windows Phone revival resource, we decided to take over an existing domain rather than register a brand-new one — partly for its history, partly because good domains are scarce. We chose to be completely transparent about this rather than pretend the name fits. Every article, every guide, and every page on this site is about Windows Phone and Lumia devices. There is no leftover finance content, and there never will be. If the name ever causes confusion, this paragraph is your answer: FinanceGora is a Windows Phone revival site that happens to live on a repurposed domain.

In one sentence: the domain is recycled; the content is 100% original and 100% about keeping Lumia and Windows Phone devices alive.

Who writes here

We’re a small team. We use these phones ourselves, we break them occasionally, and we write down what we learn so you don’t have to repeat our mistakes.

Daniel Voss — Founder & Editor

Daniel spent eight years as a mobile-repair technician before mobile repair stopped paying the bills. He bought his first Lumia 920 in 2013, never quite let go, and now keeps a drawer of working Lumias as daily backups and test devices. He writes most of our hardware and “is it still worth it” reality checks.

Priya Anand — Software & Apps

Priya is a software developer who has been sideloading XAP and APPX packages onto Windows Phone since the Windows Phone 8 days. She covers app alternatives, sideloading, email and browser workarounds, and anything involving getting modern services to talk to an old OS.

Marko Jensen — Modding & Repurposing

Marko is a hardware hobbyist who can’t see an old device without imagining a new job for it. He handles our bootloader, interop-unlock, and custom-ROM coverage, plus the fun stuff: turning retired Lumias into dashcams, security cameras, and media players.

How we work

Three commitments guide everything we publish:

  • We test before we tell. If a guide says “tap here, then this happens,” it’s because we did it on a real device. When we can’t verify something on current hardware, we say so plainly.
  • We respect the law and your warranty. We never link to pirated apps, cracked software, or illegally hosted ROMs. Modding guides carry clear warnings about voiding warranties and bricking risk, and we point you to official or community-sanctioned tools only.
  • We update. The Windows Phone landscape keeps shifting as more Microsoft services go offline. When a method stops working, we revise the article and note the change.

What we are not

We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Microsoft, Nokia, HMD, or any device manufacturer. “Lumia,” “Windows Phone,” and related marks belong to their respective owners; we use them only to describe the devices we cover. We’re an independent enthusiast publication, funded partly by advertising and occasional affiliate links (see our Disclaimer).
